Devonport Field Gun Crew Association
Welcome to the Devonport Field Gun Association website.
The site is designed to provide a focal point for members of the association, the latest association news and events are posted here. New members are always welcome to join the association.
The Devonport Field Gun Crew can trace its history back to the first inter-command field gun competition at the Royal Naval & Military Tournament staged at Olympia in May 1907. Crews from the Devonport Command competed in the annual competition at the Royal Tournament until the ‘Last Run’ at Earls Court 1999.
The Devonport Field Gun Association has long been established as a means of keeping ex-field gunners in contact with each other and this role has become increasingly important since the last Devonport Field Gun Crew disbanded after the 1999 Royal Tournament.
The association is a family of former Devonport Field Gunners, relatives, and supporters of one of our country's finest Royal Navy traditions.
Whether we are catching up with friends at our regular social events, or just providing an arm around the shoulder, our willingness to help each other stems from the camaraderie that the crew instills. We have run the same tan, share the bonds, the same mindset, and even spilled blood together.
Oggie, Oggie, Oggie!
